What Happens In Vegas...

Last Wednesday afternoon, Farzad called me and told me to pack. We were going to Las Vegas for our 27th anniversary on Thursday morning! What a sweet surprise!

In three-and-a half short days we packed in a lot of adventures. Here are a few snippets from our trip:

We stayed at the Bellagio. What a beautiful hotel! Farzad knows how to travel in style.

Here's a view from our room:

On our anniversary (Thursday night), we went to Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant and had a 9-course meal (their "tasting menu" which gave us small portions of 4 appetizers, 2 main courses, and 3 desserts). Absolutely divine food. We spent the rest of the trip visiting two other of the 6 Wolfgang Puck restaurants in Las Vegas in search of a meal to equal that first one.

On Friday we visited the Grand Canyon. We were supposed to go on a helicopter ride and then down into the Canyon for a boat trip on the Colorado River, but there were some weather issues, and the helicopters couldn't fly. No words can describe the beauty of this place, so I'm not even going to try. Just two words: awe-inspiring and breathtaking--literally.

Yes, I did get on the Skywalk, and yes, it was terrifying! But thrillling! The most amazing views.

Here's where we had lunch. Talk about a "nice table.":

And here's another view, from the other side of the cliff, to show you just how scary-exciting it was eating on the edge of that cliff (the arrow points to the table where we ate):

On Friday night when we got back, we got to see Cirque du Soleil Ka at the MGM Grand. (Sorry no pitures. No cameras allowed. But if you click here, you can see a tiny snippet of the spectacle we saw--make sure the sound is turned up.)

On Saturday, we went on a Hoover Dam tour and got to ride on a pontoon boat at the bottom of the dam, apparently a very restricted area that only this one tour company is allowed to visit. Just awesome seeing that engineering marvel from so many different angles--from the top, from the side, from the inside, and from the bottom--doesn't get any better than that!

We're not gamblers, but we did manage to spend a grand total of $5.00 between the two of us on slot machines!

It was unbelievably hot in Las Vegas--112 degrees on Thursday--but we had a wonderful, whirlwind time. I have the sweetest, most thoughtful husband to surprise me with this amazing adventure. I can't wait to start scrapping my trip!
