Our challenge this week at Creative Prompts for You was to create a challenge based on the prompt "what is so great about me." Here's what I made. I used the Studio Calico kit called Yearbook.
Here's my journaling: Our challenge at Creative Prompts for You this week is to toot my own horn and make a page documenting "what is so great about me." I think this is the most difficult challenge we've done so far because I find it uncomfortable tooting that horn.
I am generally overly critical about myself, but the thing that came to mind is that I am a good teacher. At least, I hope that I'm the best teacher I can be. There are so many days when the bell rings and the kids rush out the door and I'm sitting alone in the quiet classroom thinking, I could've done a better job, that it just wasn't enough..But I believe that what's in my heart--caring deeply about my students and wanting desperately for my students to truly enjoy reading and writing--is what makes me a good teacher.
And even if I don't satisfy myself every day that I'm a good teacher, others have noticed. I've become known for my expertise and talent in teaching reading and writing. I was asked to write the fifth grade writing curriculum for Montgomery County Public Schools all by myself. I was elected President of the Montgomery County Council of the International Reading Association. I've taught several courses to teachers on reading, writing, and spelling. I was on the cover of NEA Today when they were doing a feature about getting kids hooked on books, and most recently, I was interviewed on video about fostering independent reading.
So I guess what is so great about me is that I am a good teacher.
Hop over to CP4U and check out what the rest of the team did with this prompt, and I hope you'll play along. You have until the end of February to submit your creation based on this challenge. This month's winner will be randomly selected of all the participant entries for the entire month. This month's prize is a $20 gift certificate to the scrapbook store of YOUR choice in either the US or Canada!
