A while back, I made a layout called CSI: My Happy Place.
I'm not sure how it happened, but I left out one very special design team member: Heather Jacob. She's one of the scrappers I admire most in the world, and I'm so fortunate to have her on my design team. Not to mention, she's such a beautiful, caring soul and friend. I've been meaning to make a page featuring Heather for a while, and when I made this palette, the colors reminded me of Heather, so I finally made this page. I tried to channel my inner Heather (with not so much success--she's simply one-of-a-kind), but I enjoyed trying to use some of the elements I see on Heather's pages.
Clues I used: Evidence: leaves, envelope, jute, pearls, wood; Testimony: Journal as a catalog description; put story in an envelope.
Here are some details. As always, I used a lot of old stash with some newer items. That stitched flourish is ancient--it's by Foofala. The glittery frames are by K&Co, also very old. The leaves were cut with my Silhouette Cameo. I added some pen lines and gesso to the edges. The crackly background was done with a stamp. The background paper was completely solid. The taupe curvy bit was cut out of a DCWV paper.
The doily paper is by Teresa Collins. The green damask is Paper House, and the other green patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye.
I tucked my journaling into a glassine envelope. I tried to make it read like a catalog description. I'm blessed to have Heather for a friend. Some day, I hope I can meet her in real life.
I hope you'll pop over to CSI and take a peek at the awesome work by the design team and guest designers and play along with us.
