Four Eyes {CSI Case File No. 85}

We have a fun, vibrant Case File open for investigation at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration this week:

You probably guessed I'd be back with another episode of Tracee & Debbi's Excellent Adventures. You'll be seeing our escapades for a while! You can see Tracee's awesome layout of this antic here.

Clues I used...Evidence: tag, vellum, numbers, something clear, decorative brads, string, frame, something sandy (I meant to do a decorative border but I totally forgot); Testimony: Numbered list of 5 interesting things.

I was mojo-less the day I had to make this page, and Tracee picked out this sketch from Scrap Friends for me to use. It was a great kick-start for me:

Here's what I made:

Here are some details...I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and texture paste mixed with two different yelllow paints in the background. You can see here how I messed up and smeared it, but I figure it's homemade, so it's not meant to be perfect. The yellow was a little more vibrant than I wanted, so I brushed some gesso over some of the rectangles.

My numbered journaling is on a strip which I stitched on the side of my paper and reads: 1. because I'm addicted to my reading glasses 2. because it was bright & sunny & I don't want wrinkles 3. because nobody told me I had on 2 pairs 4. because I'm a goober .

I put number 5 on the other side: 5. we didn't notice until we saw the picture & we laughed until we nearly peed ourselves.

I added this little cropped picture because the glasses showed up better in black and white. Tracee and I found these chipboard glasses in the dollar bin at Michael's and split the pack. I painted it with Making Memories acrylic paint. It was the perfect opportunity to use the googly eyes ( I used tiny googly eyes in the title)  The funny arrow stamps are by Evalicious. This picture shows most of the papers I used, a mix of old and newer.: brown stripe (Simple Stories); orange polka dots (Fontwerks); turquoise polka dots (American Crafts); yellow polka dots (DCWV); birds (Crate Paper--thanks Tracee, for using that little bird sticker on your layout and giving me the idea to go to this paper).

This camera is from a Ki Memories paper. The clip by Rebecca Sower, another oldie from my stash, and the word stickers are 7Gypsies.

These fun letter stickers are by Pink Paislee. I actually had a smaller brad (as you can see in the picture above), but I didn't like where I had it, so I had to change the brad to a bigger one to cover an additional hole. The brad is by Crate Paper, from the same collection as the birds. I hung a little jewelry tag with an October Afternoon number sticker from the clip. On the right is a scrap of a Hambly transparency. The SPAZ frame cracked me up--it was cut on my Silhouette Cameo.

The transparency with the orange circles is really old. I got it at a scrapbook convention--it wasn't any name brand. I used my Hero Arts splat stamp with embossing powder. The little frame is a Silhouette cut, filled with Fancy Pants paper. I wanted to put a little clip on the tab, but all the clips I had were too big, so I snipped that little "product no." bit off of the top of my 7Gypsies stickers.

This page was so fun to make, especially because I kept thinking about how hard Tracee and I were laughing. And I kept thinking about Tracee's clever title, "silly gl.ASS.es"--that Tracee is so genius.

I hope you'll go take a look at what the rest of the team and guest designers made.
