On Top of the World and Poetic {CSI Case Files No. 128 and 129}

Well, here I am, still behind with my blog posts, but I wanted to get these in before June disappears, as I used some June sketches for my last CSI pages.

Our current Case File:

I'm making pages for my husband's niece and her husband. We're visiting them next month. Clues I used...Evidence: chevrons, silver metals, flowers, stalks/stems, trim that looks like a flat pom-pom, lean something, stitching; Testimony: 6-word memoir.

I used the June sketch at Once Upon a Sketch:

Here are some details. I used lots of oldies on here. The green paper is by SEI (Winnie's Walls--yes, that's how old it is). Some Jolee's stickers (the flowers), old felt alphas by American Crafts. I didn't include a closeup of the stems, but they're from an old Making Memories paper.

I couldn't find any pom-pom trim in my stash that worked with these colors, but the white circle Making Memories trim sort of reminded me of pom-poms, so I went with that. The gray and white paper is by Studio Calico.

I used a Crafter's Workshop Stencil and texture paste on the background and then randomly dabbed some green ink, a polka dot stamp, and a chevron stamp. I actually did two 6-word memoirs. The title is one, and then I used the journaling prompt from Once Upon a Sketch, which was to use the quote "The best things in life aren't things" as inspiration for my second 6-word memoir..

Here's last week's Case File:

I know everyone shies away from purple, but I embraced the purple for my page:

Clues I used...Evidence: flowers, pearls, frame, metal, punches; Testimony: frame your story.

I used a Page Drafts sketch for my page:

Here are some details. Just about everything on my page (except the green polka dot paper) is ancient. That purple paper is about a dozen years old. The background blue paper is really old Chatterbox. That other blue paper is also really old, probably a dozen years old, from when I first started scrapping The letters are old Heidi Swapp chipboard letters. I have a TON of them. I cut the leaves and frame out with my Silhouette Cameo. I stamped over the white paper with a script stamp and white ink.

Since I don't know the stories behind Mehrnaz and Ali's photos, I decided to use a quote for my journaling. That frame is also ancient. I got it way back when metal embellishments were all the rage and it's sat in my metal frame drawer for ages.

Case File No. 129 is still open for investigation. You should definitely come by and check out what the design team and guest designers have done with these two beautiful Case Files.

I really like both your pages, and purple is my favorite color, but I have not had much success using it on my pages---yours is a winner!
