Always Good for a Laugh {CSI Case File No. 120}

I'm going to catch up one day, I promise! Here is the Case File that closes tonight at midnight at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration:

I made another page for my mom's book. For those who don't know, my stepdad died the day after Christmas. I'm writing the journaling as if Ed were speaking to her and tucking those stories into an envelope adhered to the back of each layout.

Clues I used...Evidence: stripes, textured paper, mixed media, gesso, something sheer, animal accents, wet medium, place something upside down, scribbles; Testimony: haiku. I'm also going to write more journaling to tuck into the envelop on the back.

Here are a few details. I used a bunch of old paper on this page, including some REALLY old paper. Can't remember off-hand the green stripe in the background. I really need to remember to write these things down as I'm creating my page. Anyway other papers are by Making Memories (kraft dot), K&Co. (red scribbly pattern). I've had that corrugated paper in my stash forever and that blue textured paper too. The monkeys were cut out of a BasicGrey paper.

That fabric brad is by Cosmo Cricket, and the transparent circle is Hambly. I realized after I had come up with my haiku that I did 5-7-5 words instead of syllables, but since it said exactly what I wanted it to say, I decided to stick with it. I came up with some other arrangements, but I liked the way this poem sounded better.

I found this perfect brad in my stash with the green eyes! The Smile brad is by Teresa Collins, and the Me Oh My brad is by Studio Calico.

I was happy to find letters in the perfect colors. In this picture, you can see the funky messy-ness I made in the background. I first used gesso, smeared on with a credit card. Then I added texture paste mixed with blue acrylic paint, using a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop. I splattered some mists in pink, green, and black. Then I did some stamping with a roller stamp by American Crafts, and finally added some scribbles with a pencil.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who always leaves such sweet comments on my blog. Your kindness makes me smile big.

What a great page - your mom's going to love it. Hugs and prayers for your loss. And I never remember the papers either unless I right them down immediately. LOL. Sad - when I could name every mfg right out of the gate.
