We've just opened a new Case File for investigation over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration:
Here's the page I made. I'm making a book for my husband's niece and her husband. We'll be visiting them this summer, and I'm planning to make a bunch of pages before then.
Clues I used... Evidence: flowers, ampersand, floral pattern, quatrefoil pattern, textured paper, decorative frame. I'm going to let Mehrnaz do the journaling, as I don't know the whole story behind the pictures, just that it's they're anniversary.
I used the current sketch at Kreative Koncepts:
Here are a few details. Papers I used are by K&Co (green dots), Echo Park (ampersands), and some old Provocraft paper (the textured floral). I mixed gray paint with texture paste and used a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop in the background. I also smushed some green and teal mists onto the background paper. I really liked the way it looked and then I went and ruined it by adding the stamping. That's the thing about mixed media for me...I never know when to quit! The title and frame were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.
The awesome chipboard butterflies are by 2Crafty. I left them raw for contrast and then dressed them up a little with a pearl.
I stitched the strips on and then decided to leave the loose threads on for added texture.

Love, Love your page! I like that you incorporate mixed media, but still use some patterned paper! There are many amazing scrapbookers out there, but your style speaks to me and inspires me the most!!
Gorgeous layout, love the colors, and great textures as well!
Well, I don't think the bg is 'ruined' by ANY stretch of the imagination, but I DO KWYM when you say 'you don't know when to stop'...& of course, you can't hit the 'back' button on a page! Maybe digi scrapping has something good about it!! ANYWAYS...I digress..those little bits of pp across the page? BRILL!!! Love them...love these colours....too busy this month to join in, I think, but I DO love this Case File:):)
I love this amazing color combination. Beautiful page, love the design.
This layout is gorgeous!
Gorgeous layout! Love this case file and how you have combined it with one of my sketches. Thank you! Sorry you missed the deadline.
Love this case file Debbi. And your page is amazing!! Awesome use of the colours. Beautiful textures x
Um...you definitely did NOT ruin it with the stamping, Girlfriend! I think the stamping is awesome and add a whole extra layer of detail to that amazing background! LOVE the texture paste in gray! And LOVE the extra splotches of color. I really need to experiment a bit more with mediums like you do...cause I absolutely love it! Your take on that fun sketch is amazing, too. So love the torn and stitched strips of paper. Really stunning, Debbi!
Beautiful page - I love the colors as always and you can never screw up stamping. Its like a rule. And that bedroom looks great too.
This is such an artsy layout and a little different to your normal style. I like it. The gesso is way cool and the stamping is awesome.
