Cherish {Paper Issues Scraplift Challenge}

I made another page for one of my students. Gotta love spring break!

I've been playing a lot over at Paper Issues. So many fun challenges. I made this for their Scraplift Sunday challenge, and here's the page we had to scraplift:

Here are some details. I used a lot of Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection. The stripey and gingham papers are from that collction, as are the chipboard pieces.

The background ledger paper is an old Collage Press paper. I added some watercolor in the background using the packaging technique and added some texture paste with a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop.

The bottom needed a little something, so I added a strip cut from a paper in my stash--i think it's a Die Cuts with a View paper.

Good Times {CSI Major Case File No. 237}

We've got a brand-new challenge for September at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.

Here's the page I made. Clues I used... Evidence: Grid pattern, stripes, speech bubble, triangles, eye glasses, labels, animals, cactus, washi tape, frame; Testimony: Steps in a lesson.

Tracee and I had bought some cute little Jolee's pinata stickers and had planned to have a fiesta party, but we never got around to it, so on her last night here, we decided to go to a Mexican restaurant. I didn't use the pinata stickers on this layout, but we took some more pictures from that evening, so stay tuned...

Here are some details. Most of the stickers on my page came from Photoplay's For the Love of Summer collection. I used a bunch of papers from my scrap drawers, so most of the papers are older papers. The frame is by Crate Paper, and that speech bubble was cut out of a We R Memory Keepers Notable paper. The background paper is a Bo Bunny paper. I used a stencil that had triangles by The Crafter's Workshop.

Here's a closeup of the other side. I went a little overboard on the enamel dots, I think!

I thought it would be funny to put eyeglasses on the pineapple, and it fit one of the clues. :)

We Laugh and Take Selfies {CSI Major Case File No. 235}

Our challenge at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration is celebrating Girlfriends Day, and here is the page I made:

The Case File has such pretty colors, and the sketch was fun to work with. Clues I used...Evidence: solid white background, polka dots, flowers, puffy stickers, bling, wet medium, people images, transparent stuff, floatie shape; Testimony: girlfriends, inspiration word: laughter, together.

Here are some details. That purple striped paper--by Susan Branch--is ancient, like maybe from 2001, but it was the perfect shade of purple. The little wood veneer girls are by Studio Calico.  Not sure who made the transparent circular thing. I cut it in half so I could use it on either side of my layout. I've had those purple glittery brads in my stash forever and thought I'd probably never use them, but bingo! I stamped the "la la la love you" with Staz-On ink onto another transparent element.

I found different patterned papers in my stash to match the other colors. The green polka dot is an old Luxe Design paper. The aqua papers are Amy Tangerine scraps I've been hoarding. I love that paper! I can't remember who made the gray paper, but it's from a Christmas collection--I think they're supposed to be snowflakes. Isn't that stencil that I used cool? It's by the Crafter's Workshop and I used texture paste mixed with white acrylic paint.

Not sure why that Evalicious puffy camera sticker is showing up yellow--it's really the lime green. The chipboard "selfies" is by 2Crafty. I coated it with embossing powder.. The silver letters are Making Memories. The lettering beneath that was made with Headline rub-ons. I've had those things for years, and they go on just like butter. You can get a TON of them in a package and they come in all size. I think these are 1/4" letters. I got them from Michael's in the art section.

For the donut shape clue, those sparkly things are by Queen & Co. Tracee and I got them when we went to the Scrapbook Expo.

Holy Crab! {CSI Case File No. 234}

We've got a brand-new challenge over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. Here's the page I made using photos of Tracee and me goofing around with my selfie stick. We were in Chestertown and there were a bunch of sculptures sticking out of the water. We thought it would be amusing to make some "scared" faces in front of this giant crab claw.

Here's the Case File. Clues I used. Evidence: animals transparent stuff, dashed lines, triangles, rub-ons, plus signs, sun, scallops. Testimony: Document a summer getaway.

Here are some details. The cute little puffy starfish is a Jolee's sticker. The triangles in the background are rub-ons by K&Co, and the plus signs were made with texture paste and a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop. 

The little fish were cut from and Echo Park paper.  The flair badge is from A Flair for Buttons.

Here's another puffy sticker from that Jolee's pack. So cute with the googly eyes, and a little shimmery too.

Flower Power {CSI Case File No.

We have a new challenge at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration! Here's the page I made, the first of the newest edition of Debbi and Tracee's Excellent Adventures.

And here's the Case File. Clues I used...Evidence: stripes, text print, flowers, leaves, puffy stickers, cursive font, decorative border, stack something, wood, triangles, watercolor; Testimony: Hand-write on a journaling spot, inspiration word: hello.

Here are some details. That yellow paper is an old paper by Sweetwater. It was the perfect shade of yellow. The stamps are by Citrus Twist.

In the background, I used some watercolor and some texture paste with a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop. Those enamel dots are matte and they're by Eyelet Outlet.

I cut the title out on my Silhouette Cameo. The leaves are by Simply Graphic. The pink paper is by SImple Stores, and the green paper is an old paper from My Mind's Eye.

Christmas Joy {CSI Major Case File No. 219}

We've got a new Case File open for investigation at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration with an awesome sketch by The Nifty Pixel:

Here's the page I made. I made this for my niece-in-law and her husband. Clues I used--Evidence: polka dots, plaid, stripes, holiday stuff, snowflakes, burlap, ribbon, tags, metal, tree; Testimony: Journal about the holidays. (I stuck a tag in there so they could record their holiday memories.)

Here are some closeups. I searched and searched my stash for plaid papers in the palette and couldn't find any, and then I found some plaid ribbon, which met two of the clues. I only had one photo, so I used this filmstrip frame by K&Co, and I put some different patterned papers in the different sections to represent the photos in the sketch.

The chipboard "Christmas" title is by 2Crafty. That script in the background was made with a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop and some texture paste mixed with white acrylic paint. I was going crazy trying to figure out what color to use for this piece because I really wanted to use those sparkly white Thicker letters to match up with the sparkles on the snowflakes. I finally decided on coating them with a sparkly black embossing powder which doesn't show up well in the photo. Please pardon the harsh shadows on my photos. So hard to get a decent photo this time of the year.

It was fun going through my holiday papers and embellishments to find stuff to use. The snowflakes are Jolie's, as is the candy cane. I got that little wooden tree from a french company called Simply Graphic. I found that black sparkly scalloped border that matched my title. It's really old, by K&Co. I stapled everything on to meet the metal clue.

Road Trip {CSI Case File No. 174}

We've just opened a new Case File at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.

Tracee and I made another page for our book called Tracee and Debbi's Epic Adventures part 2. Here's my page. Clues I used... Evidence: globe, travel accents, chevrons, tape measure, hinges, metal, leaves, something woven, mesh, stitching, buttons, starburst. Testimony: Document something about a location.

I used a sketch from Stuck? Sketches. I flipped elements on the sketch horizontally to form a visual triangle with the bold brown elements on my page.

Here are some details. My background paper is a Dear Lizzy paper. I used a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and some texture paste mixed with a little white and blue acrylic paint. The brown cut files are from The Cut Shoppe.  The geotag came from the Round Up set and the title came from the Here and There set. The green stripe paper is really old, by Wild Asparagus. The globe was cut from an Echo Park paper, as was the chevron paper. The labels are also really old, by Fontwerks. I loved their labels. The tape measure rub-on is by 7Gypsies, and the tiny dot stamp is by Kaiser Craft.

Some more cut files from The Cut Shoppe--this is from The Happy Camper set. I found a hinge that I've had in my stash for eons, and I also rescued some mesh that has been sitting in my stash for ages. The phrase stickers are by 7Gypsies.

Lost in Shipping {CSI Case File No. 158}

We've got a new Case File open for investigation at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration:

Here's my page. Clues I used...Evidence: stripes, dots, eyelets, animals, stitching, misting, string; Testimony: Document a special childhood belonging.

Here are some details. Sorry for the crummy pictures. Winter's so tricky for taking photos. The frames came from an old paper by My Little Shoebox. They were a brighter turquoise, so I dabbed a little gesso on them. That's mini-mi, about 3rd grade. The little fish are Silhouette cut files. I was excited to find that wavy-shaped stencil by The Crafter's Workshop in my stash.

I'm always happy to use a couple of the gazillions of eyelets in my stash. So perfect for the little fish bubbles. 

I put the full story on the back of my page, and I put bits and pieces into the frame to look like it was falling off the ship. Here's the sad story:

Lost in shipping. That's what they told me happened to my precious rock collection. How I loved that rock collection! All those sparkly stones were my treasures. I even had names for many of them. My Root Beer Rock, a rich brown quartz with crystalline froth. My Golf Club Rock, a clear, polished piece of quartz shaped just like a golf club. My Forest Rock, which had what looked like a little tree trapped inside its frozen crystal form. And my Watermelon Rock, a tourmaline that went from green to white to pink, just like the slice of fruit. I had agates and fool's gold and pink quartz and galena. I had an amethyst and piece of petrified wood and a snowflake obsidian and even a geode with a cave of sparkly crystals. 

I loved looking at my rock collection. Loved feeling the cool smoothness of the polished stones in my hand. Loved the taste of the stones' names on my tongue. I was so proud of that collection and dreamed that one day I'd become a geologist--a little girl's fantasy of roaming the world in search of sparkly things.

Lost in shipping. That's what they told me. In my little girl mind, I envisioned my box of treasures falling off the ship that carried them from the United States to Bolivia, sinking down to the bottom of some murky, fathomless sea. Lost forever. 

And this was the perfect opportunity to use one of the little anchor brads.
