Here's my page. Clues I used... Evidence: I used a grid design of sorts, animal accents, frames, pom-pom trim, translucent elements, and things that shimmer and glow; Testimony: Write about a pet, translucent pocket to hold my story.
I sometimes purchase digital elements to print out and use on my pages from Designer Digitals, and I had recently received an email from them, and one of the products they were showing was a digital template, and it occurred to me that they were sort of like sketches. I used this template as inspiration for my page design. I thought the triangles were sort of like a grid and would work for this Case File.
Here are some details. I have a gazillion sheets of paper and I discovered they just don't make very many purple papers. Luckily, I was able to find some that were the right shades of purple. The darker purple paper is by SEI, the patterned dark purple is by My Mind's Eye, and the lavender polka dot paper is by Melissa Frances. The green polka dot paper is by Luxe Designs. After stitching the triangles down, I bent them up a little for dimension. There's the green pom-pom trim that was part of the Evidence. I stitched the dang piece on crooked. Grrr...
Here's my animal accent--a little Max & Whiskers brad by BasicGrey. I know he's the wrong color, but it's just a little touch. Those flowers are from a craft store. They were on a big branch, and I just pulled them all off. I found a Hero Arts script stamp and the perfect color purple ink to add a little interest to the grid paper at the bottom.
I made a vellum pocket for my journaling. The "thoughts" sticker is purple. That loopy transparent frame is by My Mind's Eye. My journaling reads: I wanted a kitty so bad when I was a little girl. A cute, soft, furry kitty I could call all my own. I had my chance at a kitty just one time. I found her mewing by the fence at Montgomery College and I picked her up and took her home and begged Mom to let me keep her until she gave in. I named her Desdemona, and I remember this sweet little kitty would suck on the collar of my nightgown and purr and knead on my chest. I loved having that little kitty, and I don't know how long I had her until I had to get rid of her. I didn't have another cat of my own until I turned 17 and got Tiffany.
I bought the stacked frame element from Designer Digitals. I printed out three copies, and cut them out and put foam tape in between the layers. I outlined all my paper elements with a black pen to add a feel of whimsy.
The template doesn't have this cluster at the top, but my friend Tracee confirmed that my page needed this. The loopy border punch is by Martha Stewart. I've seen others do the outlining, including my friend Tracee, and I thought I'd give it a whirl. Gives it a really fun look, I think! I used the Doodlebug sugared brad and pearls for the shimmer and glow part of the Evidence. That grid paper, by the way, is really old--Scenic Route.
I used some more vellum to hold my title and some really old Ki Memories rub-ons--they're from 2004, and they still rub-on like butter.
I've heard so many people say they hate purple or they're afraid of it or it's their least favorite color to use, but every once in a while, I need to throw in a purple at CSI. What are your thoughts about purple?
The design team and guest designers did wonderful things with this Case File. Come see--and come play. We have so many prizes this month, from our sponsors Flying Unicorn, My Mind's Eye, and Scrapbook Fantasies.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and reading about my page!

This is lovely!!! I especially adore your doodling! :D
I used purple in my last LO before this one (that I didn't post yet on CSI...), but... that's not my favourite color, oh no !
Your page is lovely, I like the doodling very much too !
I love purple! It is the new pink for me 13 year old DD and it comes in very many shades. It goes great with green, black and aqua colors; some other favorites of mine. What is there not to like?
Fabulous, Debbi! I am one of those ones that is a bit afraid of purple, but when I see others use it so beautifully, I really do love it! The purple mixed with the bright greens here is wonderful. Love how you used that digi template as your sketch. Those stitched triangles are awesome. Love the loopy doodled borders, too! Love it all!
Oh my Debbi how fab this is! love so the triangles and how clever to use that digi template. Each week I am totally impressed by your use of old stash and how you transform it into a beautiful fresh page! love the loopy doodled borders to!! xoxox
Cool layout Debbie & great sketch! I agree with Tracee - the addition of the top cluster is fabulous! Sorry to say but I'm not a fan of purple either. It's just a difficult colour even for colour lovers like myself. Of course a bit of it here & there can be tolerated but generally I avoid it like the plague :) That said it looks lovely on other people's pages!!
simply divine xoox
