2Crafty May Design Team Work

It's my turn at the 2Crafty blog today. Here's my post:

"Butterfly Kisses"
This is one of the few pictures I have of my mom and me when I was a kid. I'm beginning a book of childhood photos that I will give to my mom on Mother's Day.  I have a fond memory of Mom and me making "butterfly kisses," where we'd smush our faces together and flutter our eyelashes. 2Crafty has a variety of lovely butterflies that were perfect for my page.

I coated all my chipboard pieces with gesso and decided to leave most of them that way to give my page a soft, aged shabby feel. I used stamp ink to color my small "Butterflies." The bigger butterfly is from "Marianne's Butterflies." Topping them with some pink pearls gave them a lovely shine.

The "Remember" word came from the "Friendship Mini Word Pack." The I stached a "Mini Film Strip" on top of a piece of border I had left from another layout. This border is from the "Mixed Border Strips" set. Because I scrap 8 x 8, I often have leftover chipboard pieces to use on other layouts. I coupled a fabric heart brad with a heart from the "Heart Silhouette" set.

As I said, I scrap 8 x 8, so I always have leftover pieces from borders, and this sweet little doily shape, which I topped with a brad, is from the "Doily Border."

"Love You to the Stars and Back"

These lovely ladies in these fun photos are my best friend's daughter and granddaughter. I thought it would be fun to put them together and make a photo-booth style layout.

The 2Crafty "Film Strips - Medium" were a perfect element for the photo-booth arrangement of the pictures. These Film Strips are just over 7 inches tall, so they were just the right size for my 8 x 8 page. I coated them with white embossing powder.

I've been waiting for an excuse to use the fun elements in the "Space Set." The Saturn piece came from this set. I coated it with gesso and then painted the planet and ring with yellow and aqua watercolors. I added glitter to the ring to give it some shine. I wanted to echo the background paper for my title, so I used the "Love - Loopy Font" and "You - Loopy Font" pieces. The "You" was coated with white embossing powder, and I painted the "Love" with red acrylic paint.

How fun is this rocket from the "Space Set?" I covered it with patterned paper, leaving the engraved windows raw. I added some stars, painted with yellow watercolors, from the "ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars."

Gorgeous pages. I especially love the top one....it really has a lovely soft shabby feel to it & that little heart flair is CUTE as.... & I think it's the story behind it & the fact you don't have many photos together....that all makes it really spesh:):)

So much talent, girl! That book is totally going to make your mom cry. Such a sweet page and precious memory, and I adore those happy pics and the playfulness of the second. Perfection!
