#Expo

So it's summer, and I'm just about done with my studies and I felt like scrapping. And you know I love a good challenge, so I went in search of a good one, and I found three! Here's the page I created, and I'll follow with the challenges that inspired it:

So I had originally planned to scrap these pictures for a different challenge that used bright colors, but not exactly sure which direction to take it. I looked for some additional challenges over at A Cherry on Top, and I found one that asked us to use something we pinned on Pinterest as inspiration, so I headed over to Pinterest and saw this layout by Elsie Robinson. I just love her work, and that immediately gave me the idea for this page documenting our trip to the Scrapbook Expo. I had just bought a few pieces from Maggie Holmes' new Carousel collection, and it was the perfect opportunity to use it.

I looked for some more challenges to give me ideas of other things to do with my page, and first I found another challenge at Creative Embellishments. You had to use an element from this image plus use a hashtags. I chose speech bubbles.

Then, Tracee told me about a challenge she was going to do, so I hopped over to Paper Issues and found this challenge, which gave me some ideas for things to include on my layout. I used 9 things from the list: yellow, a die-cut, ribbons (the prize ribbons I cut out), patterned paper, more than 1 photo, cardstock, a border, a punch, stickers, and a title.

Here are some details. The background paper is an old Webster's Pages paper (the one with the hot air balloons on the back). The flowers were cut from one of the Maggie Holmes' Carousel Papers I recently bought from Paper Issues. The chipboard star and heart are also from that collection. Those puffy speech bubbles are by Heidi Swapp. I made that border at the top with a border punch by EK Success. The little award ribbons were cut from a Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams 6 x 6 paper.

The circus tent in the background is a cut file by Silhouette. I added some rhinestones for a little extra something. The tickets are by My Mind's Eye. The Chipboard Carousel, banner, and best day stickers are from the Carousel collection, and I cut the butterflies and little cameras from some Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams 6 x 6 papers.

And here's a shot of the flag at the top of the circus tent. I used Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams paper on that too. Pardon that shadow on my photo!

I had fun with these challenges, and I'm pleased with how my page turned out!

I love the design, Debbi. The colours are so pretty, and how neat is that circus tent cut file. The circus themed embellishments are really fun. I really envy how you are able to make those types of cut files work with your photos on your layouts. And on an 8 x 8 page to boot. Such a unique scrapbooking style. Great job ♥♥♥
