Puppy Love | Paper Issues 30 Days of Sketches - Day 17

Moving right along through Paper Issues's 30 Days of Sketches. Here's my layout for sketch 17:

And here's the sketch. I mainly followed the sketch, but I did a lot of overlapping.

I thought Simple Stories Heart was the perfect collect to go with this precious photo of my friend's daughter and her dog. I used a frame cut from a patterned paper. I mounted the frame and photo with adhesive foam for extra dimension.

I used the branding strips from the Heart papers, and instead of just using the strips, I added scallops and stitched them on. I like how the loose threads add a little whimsy.

This sketch was perfect for using these ginormous letters, which are extra-ginormous on my 8 x 8 pages. I added some pretty gold sparkly doo-dads to a couple of the letters. I usually embellish my pages more, but I thought with all those different patterns, what I used was enough.

Just for the Record, He Fits! | Paper Issues Secret Life of Pets

This month, Paper Issues has a challenge called Secret Life of Pets, and I had the perfect subject for a layout! My pastor has the most adorable dogs, especially this guy, named Buster. She's always posting pictures of Buster on Facebook, and I always write that I want to put him in my pocket, and she always laughs.

I recently ordered this stamp from a French company when my husband went to Paris last month, with a layout in mind to tell this story. I used Vicki Boutin's Wildflower and Honey collection.

The page came together pretty quickly. I stamped the pocket on this paper and cut it out. I fussy-cut Buster so he looked like he's sitting inside the pocket. I mounted the white background on this colorful paper from the collection to tie all the colors together.

I mostly used ephemera die cuts, creating a little scene in which to place my pocket. I gave them dimension by adhering them with pop dots. The "record" was in that same pack, and I just happened to have a stamp that had the words "just for the" (this phrase continued with the word halibut, but I just cut out the part I needed).

That ruler came with the die cuts, and I thought it was a perfect element to tell the story. I added some enamel dots from my stash and a couple of shimmery golden plus signs from the Wildflower and Honey Thickers.

Let's Go {Paper Issues As the World Turns Challenge}

Yesterday was my turn on the Paper Issues blog. Here's my post:

Hi, Paper Issues Friends! Today I'm here to share a layout I created for the challenge we're calling "As the World Turns." No, we're not talking the soap opera! For this challenge, we're putting the focus on travel pages, world globes and other travel-themed embellishments. I used elements from the Blue Ain't Your Color-August Scrapbook Kit, which contains stuff from Fancy Pants On Our Way collection.

How perfect is the Let's Go free cut file to showcase this fun paper collection? Lifting them with pop dots gives such awesome dimension.

The Vicki Boutin chipboard pieces in the August kit are so versatile--so many different phrases in a variety of colors.

The triangles in the background were created with a stencil that came in the kit, and the flair badge and puffy dots are also in the kit.

Fall Family Fun {Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday}

I made another page this weekend, this time for Paper Issues' Scraplift Sunday challenge. Here's what I created:

Here's the gorgeous layout I scraplifted, by Lisa Swift. She has such a knack for embellishing!

Here are some details. I used Simple Stories Forever Fall collection, plus a few odds and ends from my stash. I was delighted to use a photo turn on this layout. Thanks, Lisa, for the idea--I had forgotten all about the millions of photo turns  have.

I cut the acorns out of a Forever Fall patterned paper. When I was digging out the photo turn came across this sweet metal washer, a really old relic from Making Memories.

I thought the little bow on Lisa's frame was such a sweet detail, and I was glad to find a bow in my stash that matched my layout colors.

Bask {Paper Issues Free File Free-for-All Challenge}

Paper Issues has the best free cut files, so it's always fun to play in their Free File Free-for-All challenge. I used the Sunny Day cut file to make this page:

Here are some details. Most of the stuff on my page is from Paige Evans' Turn the Page collection. I adhered the cut file to yellow paper and then cut around the outside to make the sun. I mounted it on cloud paper to give it some lift.

Most everything on the page is lifted with pop dots.

I love these old vinyl Poolside Thickers. The color went perfectly with this collection.

Attitude {Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday}

I just made this page this morning for Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday challenge.

I loved the mixed media in Angie's layout that we lifted. I'd love to know she achieved that vibrant blue.

Here are some details. I used Fancy Pants Dream Big collection and then chose all the rest of the stuff I used based on that. That flair badge is by A Flair for Buttons. I've had that epoxy sticker, I think by Creative Imaginations, forever. They've gone a bit yellow with age. I pick the sheet of these stickers up every now and then and then put them back. I've thought about tossing them over the years, but I'm glad I kept them because I think this sticker works well here.

The reinforcements are by Heidi Swapp--how perfect a match is that blue color! The wood veneer stars are by Studio Calico. The checker stamp is by Prima, and the plus-signs are also a stamp, by Carabelle Studio.

The puffy sticker arrow is from the dream Big collection.

This was a really fun page to scraplift, and my page came together very quickly (for me) in a few hours.

Did Someone Say Snack? {Paper Issues Striped Sensation Challenge}

So, I made a bunch of pages over the last year to give to my pastor. She has the cutest dogs. I've been snagging the pictures of her furbabies off of her Facebook page, and often using her captions in the journaling or title. I created this page for the Striped Sensation challenge over at Paper Issues.

I scoured my stash to find food-related embellishments, and came across a sheet of stickers from Pebbles' Tealightful collection. From there, I chose my colors. I found a Teresa Collins polka dot paper which matched the green in the stickers. I decided to use the striped paper to look sort of like a table. 

The stickers were clear, so I mounted them on white cardstock and cut them out. They have a glitter finish on them, so I found some glittery Thickers to add to the title. I popped the stickers onto the page with adhesive foam. A doily seemed the perfect addition.

Little Man {Paper Issues Pop, Lock & Drop It Challenge}

I'm on a roll with the Paper Issues August challenges. I'm hoping to play in each one of them. Here's my latest page for the challenge called Pop, Lock & Drop It. The challenge is to create a 3-D effect by using pop dots The sun wasn't cooperating as well as I'd have liked, but almost all of the elements on here are lifted with pop dots, some of them double-layered.

I decided to scraplift one of my own layouts I made a few years back because I was stuck for an idea. That layout was based on a sketch a few years back from Grand Diva's Creative Corner.

Most everything on the page is from the Lil' Dude collection by Simple Stories, which they currently have in stock at the Paper Issues shop. It's such a fun collection! The stickers were all lifted up with foam adhesive. I added brads to the wheels in the car and cut out a dog from one of the patterned papers to sit in the car. That speech bubble is also cut from a patterned paper, as are the stars.

The circle is from a patterned paper in the collection that's just a bunch of circles with icons and sayings. I used a circle punch to get a perfect circle and mounted it on black cardstock. The circles are lifted with 2 layers of adhesive foam.

I fussy cut the little frog from one of the patterned papers. I'm putting one or more hearts on the layouts for the little guy to hunt for.
