Out of This World {Stuck?! Sketches March 15 Challenge + Paper Issues Pinspire Me Challenge}

We've got a new sketch for you at Stuck?! Sketches! Here's what I made with the sketch:

And here's the awesome sketch Laura created for us. As you can see, I followed the sketch pretty closely, with a few changes. Instead of matting the whole layout, I added some patterned paper to the top and bottom of the layout, and I substituted the notebook paper with that astronaut image and moved it to the right.

So, I'm making pages for my students again this year, and sometimes, I just draw a blank. I turned to Paper Issues to see if I could find some inspiration there to give me a jumpstart, and I found this mood board on their Pinspire Me challenge. The space images on the mood board reminded me of the rockets in the Pink Paislee Wild Child collection. I haven't been doing as much mixed media lately, but the image in the top center of the mood board reminded me that I should bring my water colors and stamps back out.

Here are some details. All the papers on this layout are from the Pink Paislee Wild Child 6 x 6 pad, and the rockets and planets are from that collection as well. The grid stamp in the background is an old Studio Calico stamp. Gotta love the old BasicGrey letter stickers. I'm quite sure I've got every set they ever made, and I can always find a set in just the color I need.

Here's a shot of the other side. I think the astronaut was cut out of one of the Wild Child papers.

I had a piece of notebook paper from an old Creative Imaginations journaling pad that I had tried out where the notebook paper is in the sketch, but I couldn't make it work, and that's when I decided I'd just go ahead an make a cluster at the top.

I hope you'll come play with us at Stuck?! Sketches. We've got two awesome sponsors donating gift certificates to to lucky participants!

Puppy Love {Stuck?! Sketches March 1 Challenge}

We've got a brand-new challenge live at Stuck?! Sketches. Here's the layout I made for a friend. I just love these sweet photos of her daughter and her little puppy!

Here's the beautiful sketch Laura made for us:

And here are some details. Most everything on the page is from the Felicity Jane kit called Reagan. I used a few things from my stash, like the pearls, the doily, the gold Making Memories letters that spell Puppy, and the 2Crafty chipboard circle.

I just love this sweet velvet bow from the kit. The dog-themed word stickers are from my stash.

You'll want to come play with us for a chance at winning some great prizes from our sponsors:

Precious {CSI Case File No. 248 and Stuck?! Sketches Mid-Month Challenge}

We've got a brand-new challenge at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.

Here's the page I created. I used the traditional clues (which are my interpretation since I create the Case Files, LOL). I used the colors and some of the Evidence clues--solid white background, floral pattern, hearts, butterflies, leaves, flowers, and something fuzzy.

 I also created this for the mid-month challenge at Stuck?! Sketches, where I'm a design team member. Laura gave us two sketches to work with, and I had already created a layout with the first sketch, so I thought it would be fun to combine the challenges.

Here are some details. I cut out some flowers from a Carousel paper and the green butterflies from a One Canoe Two paper. The fuzzy brad met the fuzzy element from the clues.

The title is by 2Crafty from when I was on their design team. I coated it with glittery gold embossing powder. They're sponsoring CSI this month, so you'll definitely want to play for a chance at winning some of their beautiful chipboard.

The pretty floral stencil is by Tim Holtz. These texture paste flowers on my background were inspired by the outlines of the balloons in the Case.

I chose to use that large piece of brown woodgrain paper since the brown bear was so prominent in The Scene. I've had that butterfly brad in my stash forever. It's by BasicGrey. The green striped paper is also ancient. I think it might be Wild Asparagus. How's that for a blast from the past?

You'll definitely want to come play with us. CSI has 15 sponsors this month! Wow!

And Stuck Sketches has two sponsors offering $25.00 gift certificates.

Picture Perfect Caption - Stuck?! Sketches February 15 Challenge

We're back with a mid-month challenge at Stuck?! Sketches, and Laura made 2 sketches for us to play with this time! You'll see my layout for the second sketch on tomorrow's blog post. Here's my first layout:

And here's the sketch Laura made:

Here are a few details. So I'm making pages for my friend, and I always grab the pictures from facebook. The caption on this photo just cracked me up. Hard to see with the shadows, but it says "They hate to love each other." Most of the stuff I used for this page came from the Hip Kit November kit.

The circle wreath cut file is from Paper Issues. The phrase stickers cracked me up with this photo.

I love the little tag Laura had tucked into the sketch. I decided to add two. The white splatters in the background is Dylusions spray ink.

As always, we have some fabulous prizes up for grabs from our generous sponsors (both are offering a $25.00 gift certificate):

1st Trip Around the Sun {Stuck?! Sketches February 1 Challenge}

We've got another awesome sketch challenge over at Stuck?! Sketches. Here's the page I created:

And here's the sketch Laura created for us to play with:

Here are some details. I fell in love with this picture of my friend and her sweet son on his birthday. The caption she had written for this picture on her Facebook page was "his first trip around the sun," and I immediately had an idea of using a sun in place of the doily in the sketch. I found a sun cut file at the Silhouette store. I used some old BasicGrey papers in two different yellows.The journaling was also on my friend's facebook Facebook page. I think the orange brad is by October Afternoon.

I thought the constellation paper from Echo Park's Just Be You collection would be the perfect backdrop for this page, and I cut out a rocket from an old BasicGrey paper. I made some tags with paper scraps to coordinate with the colors on my page, and I found these cute little alien stickers in my stash.

Since I only had one photo, I decided to substitute a title block for the other photo in the sketch. That alien is from the same pack as the other one.

I hope you'll come play with us. We've got prizes from three sponsors up for grabs!

All-Star {Stuck?! Sketches January 15 Challenge}

Our mid-month challenge is live at Stuck?! Sketches. Once again, Laura made another fabulous sketch for us:

And here's my page, which I made for a colleague who was retiring from our school. This page was such a challenge for me to create because I scrap 8 x 8, and I was asked to make some 12 x 12 pages. I started out my scrapping journey with 12 x 12 pages, but I quickly moved to 8.5 x 11 and then to 8 x 8.

Here are some details.  I decided the best way to go would be to use our school colors, gold and black, and I was able to use mostly scraps from my stash. The baseballs are Silhouette cut files, as are the stars.
