Our Bubble | Bramble Fox

I made this page for Bramble Fox using the gorgeous translucent bubble Perspextives from the September Fox Box. These pics of my friends kids in the bath were the perfect pictures! And then when I was telling my friend about the page I was making and trying to figure out a title, she told me that she always says, "I just want to keep my kids in a bubble."

I love all Bramble Fox Perspextives, but my favorite ones are the translucent ones.

I started with a Vicki Boutin mixed media paper and stamped the bubbles. The cut file is a free one from Paper Issues called Bubbles. I dug through my paper scraps and backed the bubbles with different patterns, many of which are pretty old. I stitched the big central bubble with embroidery floss. I also dug through my blue embellishment drawer and found these old photo corners and some old sparkly and pearly brads as well as some old K&Co word stickers.

I backed the bubble Perspextive piece with white paper because I wanted it to stand out. 

I was delighted to find this blue OMG chipboard circle which just made me laugh when I put it on this photo! To finish off my layout, I added some blue Nuvo drops to some of the bubbles.

Science Lesson | Paper Issues Free File Friday

Hey, everyone! Aren't we just so lucky that Paper Issues gives  us all their hundreds of cutfiles for FREE? It's Free File Friday, and I'm here to share a layout I made using two cut files and Echo Park's new Plant Lady collection:

My friend is a teacher and during our school closure due to COVID-19, so she's doing all sorts of fun activities as she's homeschooling. I found the perfect cut files to go with this page about the kids planting seeds to learn about what plants need. The potted plant is from the Succulents cut file. I cut it with white paper, backed the pot, and then cut it again (just the greenery) with the green patterned paper and glued it on top of the white.

The #teacher mom is from the No Germs Allowed cut file. I cut the little windows out of one of the Plant Lady papers and added tiny brads to the hanging plants.

I'm loving the Simple Stories foam alphabet stickers that come in so many colors. The coral stickers are a perfect match for the Plant Lady collection. And I'm so in love with the Nuvo Drops! If you haven't tried them, you must give them a try!

So Cool | Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday

Today it's my turn on the Paper Issues blog. Here's my post:

Sunday is my favorite day of the week for so many reasons, one of which is...Scraplift Sunday. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Mary-Ann's layout that I got to scraplift. Here's my page, which I've made for one of my students.

Here is Mary-Ann's amazing layout, which is complete perfection, so I pretty much decided I wanted to scraplift the entire awesome design. I was tempted to go monchromatic because of how beautiful hers looked with all those shades of green, but I decided to use multiple colors so as not to copy TOO much!

Like Mary-Ann, I used the Stitching Star Galaxy free cut file and backed it with a Vicki Boutin Mixed Media paper.

I used Echo Park Teen Spirit collection and a few odds and ends from my stash. I had to use triple layers of adhesive foam to mount my photo because the straw was so thick.

That rainbow-burst paper is this sheet from Vicki Boutin's Kaleidoscope collection.

I used pop dots to lift up the stars, and added Nuvo drops here and there. I'm seriously in love with those things!

I always love the opportunity to add some buttons to my page. I probably have a million of them.

You Shine Bright | Paper Issues Monochromatic Fanatic Challenge

Hey, everyone! I'm so excited to share a layout I made for the Monochromatic Fanatic challenge. I've been making layouts to give to each of my 29 fourth grade students.

Besides the yellow on the Monochromatic moodboard, I also drew inspiration from the bees, the flowers, the twine, and the lemon slices.

When I saw that the challenge was yellow,  I immediately thought of the Sunburst Background free cut file. I love this kind of cut file because I can use up some of my paper scraps. All of the patterned papers on my layout came from my scrap drawers.

I love this challenge because it gets me digging through my stash to discover things I might have forgotten about, like these little bee stickers I've had in my stash forever. I might never have thought of using them if it hadn't been for the moodboard!

I added some lemon slices cut from an old Jillibean Soup patterned paper, inspired by the moodboard.

To add some more interest to the sun rays, I applied Nuvo Drops. I just love those things! So much fun and so much cheaper than enamel dots, and you can make them in any size you want!

You Captured My Heart | CSI Cold Case No. 317 + Paper Issue Free File

I created another page for one of my students, this time using CSI's April stash-busting Cold Case File and a Paper Issues FREE cut file for their Free File Free-for-All challenge.

Here are the Case File and clues for this challenge:

Clues I used: papers that match The Scene, a "girly" collection, older collection by Paige Evans, use a cut file as a base for my design. Have an element floating up the page, use black to provide contrast, fussy cut butterflies from a paper, create movement (I did by having the butterflies flying in different directions). 

 

I had envisioned making a layout with a bicycle, and have butterflies flying out of the basket, like in The Scene, but I didn't have butterflies small enough. So then I thought of having butterflies flying out of a basket, and I couldn't find a basket I liked, so I thought of using a jar instead of a basket, and my layout was born. I fussy cut a bunch of butterflies from a Paige Evans Turn the Page paper, adhering them with their wings lifted up by pop dots. I sprinkled the spaces in between with Nuvo Drops.

As you can see, my title is actually gold. I couldn't get the gold to show up in my photo of my whole layout. That awesome jar cut file is a FREE cut file from Paper Issues called Mason Jar Fresh Picked Flowers. I backed it with vellum so I could capture some butterflies inside. I wrapped some twine and added a heart charm because I always add at least one heart to every page I give to someone.

These paper clips from the Turn the Page collection are such a sweet touch and add a nice element to the side of a page. I added a phrase sticker on top.

You Make Me so Happy | Bramble Fox DT Work

Hey, Foxy Friends! I hope this post finds you happy and healthy. In these troubling times, it's comforting to have a hobby that brings us joy. I'm sharing another layout I made to give to one of my students.

Don't you just love the translucent Perspextives Bramble Fox makes? I used the Butterflies in the heathers colorway as well as a title from a prior Fox Box.

I've been seeing people making layouts with paintbrushes, and I found a free cut file from Paper Issues that had a paintbrush. I used my fringe scissors on the bristle part of the brush, some wood grain for the handle, and I found some metallic silver part for the part that holds the bristles.

I had the idea of making butterflies fly out of my paintbrush, so I looked through my collections to find some butterflies. I found a paper from Jen Hadfield's Along the Way collection that was filled with butterflies that I fussy cut. And since I scrap 8 x 8, the small size of the butterflies was perfect. Once I had chosen my butterflies, I used a real paintbrush to paint some swashes emerging from the paintbrush and added some splatters. I adhered all the butterflies, lifting their wings with pop dots. I like that all the butterflies from the Jen Hadfield paper are smaller, making the Perspextives the stars of the show.

I snuck in a heart from the Hearts Galore pack, as I always add hearts to the pages I make for my students.

Besides the butterflies, you can also find lots of other Perspextives that have this beautiful translucent, frosty look: Forest Animals, Tokens of Love, and Rainbow. You Are So Sweet | CSI Case File No. 315 and Paper Issues Free Cut File

Our April challenges are live at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. Here's the page I made. I also combined our challenge with Paper Issues' Free File Friday challenge.

Here are the Case File and clues:

I used most of the Evidence clues: stripes, floral patterns, wood, hexagons, bird, puffy stickers, buttons, metal accents, stitching, something fuzzy, fabric, paint, frames, and a background cut file.

Here are some details. I was really inspired by the hexagons and beautiful colors in this Case File. The colors made me think of some of the papers in Dear Lizzy's It's All Good collection. I backed a free cut file from Paper Issues called Hexagons Background. I didn't use the cut file as a whole, but rather cut it apart.

I love mixing alphabets for my titles, and I cracked open the pack this fun polka dot pink Thickers for the first time. For my something fuzzy clue, I found a little pink fuzzy flower-shaped brad, which also met the flower clue. I was happy to use some buttons from my stash (another clue). 

I really love how that black and white striped rug looked with the bright juicy colors in the Case File, so I added a black and white strip to my page. For the metal clue, I found a sweet orange heart charm and a pink clip. For the fabric clue, I found this old Pink Paislee pleated border in my stash that perfectly met the colors.
