You Rock | Bramble Fox DT Layout & Paper Issues Free File Free-for-All challenge

When I received the very cool "You Rock"  from the So Cool Perspextives from Bramble Fox, I knew I had to scrap these awesome pictures of my friend's son.

I used Echo Park's Teen Spirit collection and an awesome free Paper Issues cut file as well as some French stamps I had recently gotten from my husband's trip to Paris. How cool is that You Rock title? The font is perfect!

The Musical Notes were a perfect accent to go with the title. How fun is that panda stamp?

And the rabbit! I just love him! How awesome is the cut file? It's called Right on Target, and it's FREE! Paper Issues is so generous with their cut files. I backed it with some patterned papers from my stash that went with the colors of the Teen Spirit collection (the red paper is from the collection).

And I found a black Perspextive star in my stash which was a perfect piece for this page.

Christmas Magic {Paper Issues Free File Free-for-All and Scrap the Girls Challenge}

I love a good challenge, and I found a fun one at Scrap the Girls. This is my page, which I created using the Paper Issues free cut file called Under the Tree.

The challenge at Scrap the Girls was to draw inspiration from one of these dresses. The one on the very bottom right caught my eye, and I drew inspiration from the gathered trees, so I decided to recreate that on my page. I also chose a photo of my friend's daughter all dressed up for a show in a pretty dress.

Here are some details. The colors in the photo were very warm, so I looked for papers with warm tones in my stash and found a bunch of older papers by Making Memories, Cosmo Cricket, and My Mind's Eye that did the trick. I backed the trees and fussy cut some of the poinsettias from one of the papers to add to some of the trees. I found some glittery accents to echo the gold glitter chipboard letters in the title.

The "Christmas" word in the title is from another Paper Issues free cut file called Pines & Needles. I added a little more shine with Heidi Swapp gold Color Shine and Liquitex gold ink, as well as some rhinestones on that celebrate tag.

Bundle Up! {Scrappy Friends Sketch Challenge + Paper Issues Take 5 Challenge}

I've been dying to use the new Simple Stories Freezin' Season collection by  I got from Paper Issues, and I found the perfect photo of my friend's son to use this cute collection.

I played along over at Rochelle's Scrappy Friends challenge with this awesome sketch:

I also played along with the Take 5 challenge at Paper Issues. I actually used 8 things from the list: a banner, snowflakes, stripes, a cut file, stickers, fussy cutting, patterned paper, and a label.

No automatic alt text available.

Here are some details. I only had one photo, so I decided to use this cute penguin, cut from one of the cut-apart cards in the collection, inside a frame to substitute for the second picture. The little houses were cut from a patterned paper.

I used a snowflake in place of the circle in the sketch. This is a free cut file from Paper Issues called Circles and Snowflakes.

I elevated some of the elements with pop dots for added dimension.

I love these little banners I got at Michael's. I wish they had other colors besides black. They're by Recollections.

I hope you'll come play in the Paper Issues challenge for a chance to win a gift certificate to the PI store, and for sure give this sketch a try too!

Splash Zone {Paper Issues} Look on the Bright Side Challenge}

Monday was my turn on the Paper Issues blog. Here's my post:

Good morning, friends! How about some sunshine on this cold December day? After all, isn't it better to look on the bright side of life? That's what our challenge is all about today!

Some Ideas are:
  • Use bright colored papers/embellishments
  • Use the "B" sides of your patterned paper
  • Use the Quote as a title
  • Scrap a photo of the bright sun rays
Get creative and show us what you've got!

I had fun bringing some sunshine into my scrap room with a summer layout. When I thought of "bright," instantly I thought of Simple Stories' Hello Summer collection.

And I knew Paper Issues would have a perfect cut file for free to use. I found two for this page, Sunburst Background and Sunny Day.

I used some stickers and fussy cut some flowers and the pineapple to embellish.

Paper Issues still has some pieces from this collection in the shop, including the sunny yellow paper, the pineapple, and the wonky black and white dots that I used on my page. And there are lots of free cut files that would work for this challenge.  While you're at the shop, check out all the great new products. Use my code, Debbi (no e on the end), and you'll score 20% off your entire purchase!

I hope you'll join this challenge. Add your creation to the album at our Facebook page for a chance to win a gift certificate in the store!

Hello Wonderful Joy {Paper Issues Free File Free for All Challenge}

I made another page for my friend featuring her beautiful daughter. Aren't these the most adorable photos ever? I created this for Paper Issues' Free File Free for All challenge.

Here are some details. Most everything on the page is from Photoplay's Like a Girl collection. The aqua letters are Thickers.

The "hello" in the title is from the Life in Pictures free cut file, as is the film strip.

Like a Girl has all these delightful speech bubbles, some on the sticker sheet, and another paper full of them. I cut several of them out on patterned paper and lifted them with pop dots The "happy" is a rub-on"

The diamond sticker made me think of using rhinestones to embellish.

Go check out all the wonderful free cut files at Paper Issues, and while you're there, take a peek at all the new goodies in the store. Use my code Debbi (no e on the end), and you'll receive 20% off your entire order!

Isn't She Lovely {Paper Issues Winged Things Challenge}

Here's my most recent page I crated for Paper Issues, for the "Winged Things" challenge, which was to use something with wings, so I chose butterflies.

I used the beautiful Monarch Butterfly Wreath free cut file from Paper Issues and fussy cut some butterflies from a One Canoe Two paper. I gave them dimension by lifting their wings with pop dots.

I added some shimmery white sequins. Since I don't put these pages in albums (I store them in boxes), I made one of the butterflies flying off the page.

The blue flowers were cut from an Amy Tangerine paper. I wanted lots of layering under the pretty picture, but I didn't want it to look too heavy, so I folded up some tissue paper and cut it and tucked it at the bottom.

There are so many beautiful cut files over at Paper Issues for free. While you're at the store, check out all the new goodies, and be sure to use my code, Debbi (no e on the end), and you'll get 20% off your entire order!

99 Candles {Paper Issues Let's Party Challenge}

It was my turn on the Paper Issues blog yesterday. Here's my post:

Hey, Paper Issues fans, did you know that this month Paper Issues celebrates 8 years?! We've had so much fun spreading the awesomeness with you all! For this challenge create a Birthday or Party themed paper project!

My Gram turned 99 last month, and this was the perfect opportunity to scrap some fun selfies we took with her. Simple Stories Dream Big collection was the perfect happy collection for these special birthday pictures.

Paper Issues has a bunch of different free cut files that would work for birthday or party pages. I used several elements from the Party Animal free cut file.

Here's a peek at all the fun bits on that cut file.

And of course I had to find a way to use one of those adorable unicorn cats (kittycorn?), so I pasted him peeking out of one of the 9's.

You'll definitely want to get in on the fun for a chance to win one of two gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. Just add your creation to the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook page. You have until November 4.

Have you seen all the awesome new stuff in the store? Be sure to use my code Debbi (no e on the end), and you'll get 20% off your entire purchase!

Stuck on You {Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday Challenge}

So, I've said before how much fun it is to scraplift so I can try out someone else's style, and Paper Issues has a new one every Sunday. Here's my most recent scraplift:

And here's Damaris's awesome page I scraplifted:

Image may contain: 4 people, including Damaris Velazquez, people smiling

Here are some details. I went pretty clean and simple with my page. I used Photoplay's Stuck on You collection. I used the cut-apart cards in the collection for the top left and bottom right quadrants.

I needed something for the journaling quadrant from Damaris' layout, and I almost went with another cut-apart card, but then I thought about that Huey Lewis song, and I typed up the chorus and used that. And of course I've had that song stuck in my head ever since!

How awesome is this cactus cut file? It's a part of the Stuck on You Cactus free cut file in the Paper Issues store.

The Paper Issues store still has a lot of pieces from this collection. While you're there, check out the free cut files and all the stuff in the store, and if you use my code, Debbi (no e on the end), you'll receive 20% off your entire purchase!
